13th Grade Cup - JPL vs Karori Miramar Park 3 Result 3-1

Prior to this game, both Miramar and Karori had booked their places in the 13th Grade Cup final.  In our one previous encounter this season, Karori had beaten us, and the team were determined to avenge their loss.  The first half produced some nice football which Miramar dominated and had good possession and passing.  Karori were unable to get too many shots on goal.  Highlight of the half a superb 2nd goal when a Fraser Norrington cross into the goal area connected with a diving Gianni Bouzoukis and he headed past the keeper into the bottom left hand corner, a fantastic looking goal!  Once again a great team effort, Gianni was our player of the day with a hat trick for his efforts.

Congratulations to the team for reaching the finals, they have trained and worked hard to achieve this well done.

Good luck for the finals on the 27th August GO MIRAMAR!

The Pumas went ahead by two in the first half with Joshua Turchie scoring both - the second from a penalty.

We eased up after half time and the opposition scored a couple of goals to tie it up.

However Joshua hadn't finished yet and scored his hat-trick to win the game 3 - 2.

Player of the Day : Joshua Turchie.

Grade 7 Wrap

Miramar Victory played against Miramar Roar and we lost 3-0. But it was a great game, in the first half the Roar scored 3 goals. We had good shots at goal but didn't score. In the second half the Victory defence was great stopping the Roar from scoring. The whole team played really well with no subs the boys were getting tried but soldiered on. Making Jeff & I very proud of the team.

This is our first lost for a while, but the Roar played well, so well done to them.

The winner in the end is always soccer what a great game.

Grade 10 Roundup – good results for the weekend
10th Promo A - Miramar vs KCU- after an unexpected first loss of the season a couple of weeks ago, the 10th Promo team bounced back in emphatic style beating KCU 12-0 in a comprehensive performance.  KCU had no answers to Miramar's all round game, scoring goals with sweeping play from deep within their own half and some well worked moves down both wings.  Not too be outdone, the defence was well organised snuffing out any opposition attacks to keep another clean sheet.  The hero of the day was Thomas Raimbault who scored 6 superbly taken goals, with a hattrick from Mohi Kahui and 1 each from Dylan Sharma, Ethan Yee and Matt Rowling (all pictured).  The players of the day were Thomas Raimbault and Thomas Eales.  The team is well coached by John Sutherland and has a 11-1-1 record for the season.
10th Section A –both our teams have performed very well all season and over the weekend Miramar Comets won 7-2 against Karori (goals from Louis Scott (3), Ben Piesocki, Jack Antonopoulis, Joshua Hori and Robbie Barnsley), and Miramar Galaxies drew 0-0 with NW in a tight affair despite coming close to scoring a few times late in the game.  In the other sections,Miramar Stars (with 3 players missing) lost 2-8 against Wellington United, MiramarSatellites won 2-0 against Olympic and MiramarMeteors won 8-0 against Karori in their best game of the season.

12th grade Pumas  (C  section)

After a beautiful morning on Saturday, The Pumas headed out to the Nairnville 'all weather' artificial turf. The weather wasn't on our side, as it bucketed down, sun no where to be seen. We froze as we attempted to 'warm up' in the blistering hail-like rain. The decision was to play anyway.

Olympic had a strong defence all through the first half, with their keeper pulling off some great saves. Some of our players had good runs, but didn't manage to get a shot in before their sweeping defence cut us off. We always seemed to be on defence ,as they kept bouncing it back into our half.

Ben , The Pumas goalie managed to put on some great saves, all though he let a goal in here or there. Second half was starting and we were still frozen like ice blocks. Olympic had the upper hand coming in with a 4-0 lead. Daniel , our central defender managed to shut down numerous  olympic runs, but we weren,t  able to stem the tide. In the Midfield Grace just wouldn't stop running, continuosly tapping it through Olympics defense where either Joshua, Jacob or Huzaifa could run onto it and get a shot on. Unfortunately at full time, we had not performed, as we lost 7-0.

Player of the day was Huzaifa, after his great running game.

12th Grade Promo Match Report

The 12th promo team got up early last Saturday for an 8am kickoff against Karori at Nairnville Turf.  Karori had the better of this game with their midfield gradually getting on top.  Miramar managed to just hold on for a goalless draw and might even have pinched it  midway through the second half when Flynn Treacher narrowly missed from a tight angle.  At the other end Karl van Dijk pulled off a great save late in the game but mostly the gritty Miramar defense kept the opponents down to long shots. Many thanks to Luke Green and Thomas Miller from the Lions who helped out.

The Player of the Day was Nick Masters and the People's Choice award went to Kristof Wypych.

12th Grade JPL Match Report

We managed to achieve our first win in the super 6 competition which started 3 weeks ago.  This was achieved with the help of a couple of our Promo players who were kind enough to chip in this weekend when we were affected by absenteeism and injuries.  We played Waikanae coming away with a favourable 2-0 result up at the Nairnville Turf on a nice but cold day. After losing to them 3-2 in the round robin earlier in the season it was great to see the boys produce a much improved performance.

13th Grade JPL Super 6 Cup Vs Western Suburbs Wakefield 1

The team qualified for the Super 6 Cup by finishing 4th after the round robin stage, with some mixed results along the way.  Joining us in the Cup was Wests, Stop Out, Karori, Lower Hutt and Island Bay.  First up saw us drawn away to Wests at Wakefield Park 1. The team got to have their first game on the new artificial turf at Wakefield Park (what a great facility on our back doorstep!) We always expect an intense and physical game when we meet Wests, and Saturday proved no different. In what was a tightly contested match both teams displayed some nice football with lots of young talent on both sides.  It was Miramar who managed to get in front and scored in the 1st half thanks to a Max Carroll goal.  The team persevered, had a few more shots on goal, defended well and managed to hold on to a deserved 1-0 victory.

Player of The Day - The Whole Team - the teams desire and passion to win the game was great to see.

 7th Grade Derby

A keenly anticipated local derby between two of Miramar Rangers seven 7th grade teams took place at Crawford Green when Miramar Roar and Miramar Jets met on Saturday.  After lots of talk at Thursday’s practice as to who would come out on top, the Jets took an early lead through a well taken goal by Jacob Hodson - as it transpired this was a sign of what was to come later in the match.  The first half proved, however, to be a tight tussle.  After the Jets edged ahead to take a two goal led, the Roar pegged a goal back from a well taken strike by Hunter Wilson.  The Jets restored their two goal advantage when Jacob completed his first half hat trick   Patrick Moore then put the Roar back in touch and saw the teams head into the break with the Jets up 3-2.  The spell after half time was to prove decisive, however, as the Jets dominated play and deservedly scored four quick goals.  Jacob added a fourth and was joined on the score sheet by Harry Kidd who scored twice and Bryn Kitto (Janine – can you confirm it was Bryn or Tyler?) also scored. The Jets capitalised on quick breakaways and also proved themselves to be very dangerous from corners.  The rest of the match was more even with the final score being a comprehensive and well deserved (especially with only 5 players) 7-2 victory to the Jets.  The Roar’s player of the day was Christiaan Bull in has last game for the Roar as he heads overseas with his family – all the best in the Italian leagues Christiaan!  The Jets player of the day was Jacob Hodson (Janine can you confirm?) who, with 4 goals was the difference between the two teams.  As the photos suggest it was a fun morning for one and all and the Roar looks forward to a rematch in the not too distant future!

U7 Miramar United Match Report - Miramar United: 1 Onslow Tuis: 9.5

Miramar United put up much more of a fight than the rather-odd-looking score-line suggests here, especially given the fact, that due to injury and illness, we had no substitute players to call upon. Both sides contended well with the rather-muddy conditions, realising that shots would have to be taken close-to-goal to avoid being held up on the surface. We made a lot of good runs and tackles in this game without much reward, however, Riley Manuel did bring a smile to our faces when he scored a fine goal after dribbling through the Onslow defence, and slamming it home with mud-defying power. The rather-funny-looking scoreline comes about from Onslow estimating the result as 10-1, while I had the score-line at 9-1, so thought we’d meet in the middle. Player of the day was Grace Becker, who once stated her toughness was due to her being the daughter of a builder, and she certainly showed it on the day, with a gritty effort that left the mud shuddering in her wake. Our other two team members, Molly Chote and Francesca Paget, were not able to play on account of illness, and a fractured arm, respectively.
